Stop The Press

Let’s talk about suicide. In fact, let’s go deeper and think about the shame and levels of judgement that are attached to suicide, why are they attached to suicide and who might have put them there?

Suicide is the act of taking one’s own life. It occurs at the moment that a person decides that they can no longer continue within this body for another second of this lifetime. It is not an easy act to perform because one has to override the inherent desire to live. This means that the pain of living is so much stronger than the desire to live… and so, suicide.

When a death occurs, regardless of the circumstance, there is a general appreciation for the fact that the person did not end it on their own accord. There is a level of respectability and a dignity afforded to the departed. They are referred to as having ‘gone home’ on many occasions and there is a thought of our loved ones being at peace.

If this is true,

Why can’t someone decide when they are ready to go ‘home’?

Why can’t they decide that they want to return to peace?

We are constantly told that we have free will… The answer to the question then is that they can! It is a collective thought within society that places shame on the memory of the person who makes such a decision. However the decision is theirs to make. No doubt, like skipping school, that decision comes with it’s own consequences, every action has a reaction even in spirit. That’s the law.

However the law seems to be the problem here because there appears to be more than one type of law at play. This text below is taken from a BBC News article.

A fear of punishment and shame for the family or individual following an attempt of suicide was enough to keep every worshipper under the control of the Church as they had the last word over acceptance from God. For his grace then, one would live through every trial and tribulation assured that their treasures awaited them in heaven.

Furthermore…

Whilst we live we generate wealth for the Crown. To take our own lives is to disturb the equilibrium of wealth creation generated in the name of the Queen. In fact, to evoke the right of Free Will is to choose a course of action that goes contrary to that which society follows as the correct mode of operation. Do you do what you do because you truly want to do it?

Example:

I brought a house, I didn’t want to buy a house but there I was, a home owner… I then decided to stop paying my mortgage. I was eventually accused by the courts of “grieving the Queen” and Crown and summoned to account for my behaviour. I had simply chosen not to pay my mort-gage which in Latin means death grip.

Mental Health

If you attempt to commit suicide, you are deemed to be experiencing a mental health issue. Whilst this is undoubtedly better than being sentenced to prison it does not bare well for someone who has decided they no longer wish to continue their experience of physical life on Earth. Someone resigned to this decision/feeling/urge, may make subsequent attempts. They are likely then to be confined to units that keep them safe from themselves. Often such ones are regularly medicated… assessed… monitored…

Thus continuing to generate a wage.
